News!

This just in, from CNN:

"Disneyland announces plans to close the "It's a Small World" attraction to deepen its water channel after the ride's boats start getting stuck under loads of heavy passengers. Employees ask larger passengers to disembark - and compensate them with coupons for free food."

No, it's not a joke. I say, it is rare to genuinely laugh out loud when alone in front of the computer, but this did it for me. The mental picture - especially for anyone who's actually been on the small world ride - is just unbelieveable; giant globular white American humans in tiny little boats scraping the bottom and getting stuck, while little racially-steryotyped robots 'from around the world' sing gleefully from all sides. The gag, the irony, the social metaphor, it's all there!

"I'm sorry, sir, you're just too fat to go on this ride. Here, have some fries and a hot dog instead. You can upgrade your pop to Jumbo size for just 30 cents!"

And what does CNN title the article?

"It's a Fat World After All"

ha!
