Day 79
The cold air simply will not break. It has been a long winter in Victoria (by Victoria standards, that is), and I look forward to the warmth of april, and summer.
They say that in scientific experiments, there really isn't such a thing as a closed system, practically speaking. Hell, if i stick a thermometer into hot water I've actually cooled the water just a little bit, because some of its energy has made its way into the expanding mercury. Often the only way to make a measurement is by forcing interactions, which inevitably alter the thing being measured.
Or, imagine yourself in a room, blindfolded, with a long stick in hand. There are ten ping pong balls on the floor, and you are asked to find them all using the stick. Of course, the moment you find one, you've moved it into a new place that you'll have to locate again. The balls can never be mapped this way.
