Day 93
Two news articles caught my attention today. The first:
http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23476268-38200,00.html?from=public_rss
It is a story about how scientists managed to cross breed an embryo that was part human and part cow. Why? For stem cell research, somehow. I have no idea how, but it is hilarious.
And these kinds of articles are common, all about how some odd genetic thing has been accomplished by researchers, giving us crazy mental images of clones and robots and cross-species hybrids walking the Earth. Someday, perhaps.
The other story, from CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/personal/04/02/sex.survey.ap/index.html
Apparently optimal sex lasts from 3-13 minutes. Seems like an oddly useless statistic to me, since the difference between those times is quite significant (13 minutes is more than four times longer than 3 minutes). But nonetheless this is the science of the day. Of the couples surveyed for the study, the average time was about 8 minutes, which seems to me a bit short, but then again I've never timed it before so who knows? If you click the link, you'll notice that the headline photo is of a stopwatch. Odd, until one realizes that the more article-relevent picture options aren't really options for an outlet like CNN.
One time a girl asked me if I'd ever used a ruler to take a measurement of "how long it is". I said no, and she replied "Really? Aren't you curious?" as though surprized that I hadn't. She didn't even seem to believe my answer. Apparently this is something that men normally do.
