I'm playing a piano concert here in about 2 hours. I invited my students and coworkers thinking maybe 20 people would show up, and now it's looking more like 100, or more. I've been practicing after school every day for the last few months, sending muffled sound waves through the mostly-empty halls, and word got out that this Jared guy is pretty good.
Anyway, I've got the jitters. I've never had my own concert. I've never played for more than 25 minutes in front of anybody. All my coworkers and some of the homeroom teachers are attending, as well as (probably) the school admins. This is not to mention a swath of students.
The programme:
1. Chopin: Fantasie Impromptu
2. Chopin: Ballade No. 1 Op. 23
3. Beethoven: Sonata Op. 57, "Appassionata"
- Allegro assai
- Andante con moto - attacca
- Allegro ma non troppo - Presto
I've elected to play the 45-minute set without any sheet music... and I think it's about ready. There are mistakes that will be made, and I know where they are, but all in all it should be a good performance. Gah.
Wish me luck. I'll let you know how it went tonight!
